Reflexology in Eastern Canada was pioneered by Dorothy Marshall, the MHC founder and the person who initiated, and was the founding President of the Reflexology Association of Canada, in 1976. As such it has been a ‘resident therapy’ for the Marshall Health Clinic for over 40 years. Practitioners are trained by the International Academy of Natural Health Sciences. www.intlacademy.com .
Reflexology is a body well-being treatment wherein the practitioner activates “reflex points”.
It is noninvasive and clients feel very safe and secure during a treatment. The theory behind reflexology is that these reflex points relate to specific organs and glands in the body, and stimulating those points with finger pressure & an activation technique to promote health in those organs and glands via the body’s energetic pathways. The working premise is that the stimulation by the action of the reflexology practitioner acts to clear nervous and tissue congestion, removing accumulated toxins and encouraging the body’s own innate healing ability. This helps to stimulate the normal function of the organ involved and thus aids self-healing, bringing about physical and mental well-being. It helps the body bring itself back into balance.
